Potion Vape eLiquid Review
Potion Vape eLiquid Review
Potion Vape is an eLiquid vendor with both 100% VG offerings, called their OrganaTine and a PG/VG blend, called BasicPotion, which is a 50/50 PG/VG blend. They are also a vendor of various mods, PV’s and APV’s, as well as vaping supplies, cartomizers, atomizers, and accessories.
Before we begin we urge you to read the interview that accompanies this review. Potion Vape is a very complex brand and the people behind the brand are extraordinary individuals. The knowledge they possess and their commitment to excellence is pretty amazing. By reading the interview first it will provide necessary context to what you are going to read below.
Potion Vape offers two lines of eLiquid, a 100% VG line and a 50/50 PG/VG line. The four flavors submitted for review were sent to us in both formats, which gave us the opportunity to see if the same flavor profile appeared in both. We are very happy to report that they certainly do.
Point of Interest
We believe that the flavor extracts used by Potion Vape, a special method developed by Potion Vape, is the reason why both lines of eLiquid share the same flavor profile. One of the things we noticed in the four flavors is that the flavor extract was very accurate. Elderberry tasted like Elderberry, the coffee and amaretto tasted like coffee and amaretto, and so forth. However, we want to remind you that this review covers only four out of more than 40 flavors. Once we’ve had the opportunity to arrange for a sequel or two we can better determine that flavor profile continues throughout the line. We are very confident that it does continue, but the proof will be in the sequels. For more information on their flavor extracts we urge you to read the interview.
We have not yet tried their third line of eLiquids, called DynamicPotion. This is a sort of DIY method where customers can choose whatever nicotine level they want, the exact PG/VG ratio, and the amount of flavoring used. This is an exciting method for all Vapers, and we intend to buy a few custom blended flavors down the road and report back on how well they delivered. This DIY line is something that we hope to see more of in the future. The DynamicPotion line is fully discussed in the interview.
The Two Lines
Here’s a breakdown on both lines of eLiquid.
OrganaTine 100% VG
The OrganaTine line is a true 100% PG free e-liquid where only VG (Vegetable Glycerin). When combined with their organic and/or natural flavors it becomes a very flavorful blend, but lacks the proper throat hit of a PG/VG blend. For people with PG allergies, or people who simply want to vape 100% VG, Potion Vape has done an excellent job replicating the same flavor profiles of their BasicPotion line,
BasicPotion 50/50 PG/VG
The House Blend of the BasicPotion line is a PG/VG ratio for the most part, but depending on the particular eLiquid it can vary. Using the same organic and/or natural flavors used in the OrganaTine line the BasicPotion line gives you a bigger throat hit while maintaining a flavorful vape.
We invited Potion Vape to submit up to 10 bottles of eLiquid for a Spinfuel eLiquid Team Review and they responded by sending four flavors in both the 100% VG OrganaTine and 50/50 PG/VG BasicPotion lines. While they offer some forty-plus (40) different flavors in both lines (80+ total) the four flavors submitted gives us an idea of their prowess in developing exciting and original flavors, not to mention the necessary skills needed to replicate the same signature flavors across two distinct blends. We would have loved to reviewed more flavors but had we done that this review would be exponentially larger than it already is. We plan several ‘sequel’ reviews from Potion Vape as we move forward.
We’ve included a photo (a rather poor photo, taken with my iPhone) of the label of one of the flavors. As you can see it’s a nice clean black on white label, with a clean font. But also notice how the label includes the customer’s name on it, in this case, Spinfuel. Combine the personalized labels with glass bottles and eyedroppers and you know Potion Vape is spending the money to not only use the best ingredients, but to also create a bond with the customer.
Potion Vape eLiquid comes in 15ML and 30ML bottles priced at $10.95 for 15ML and $17.95 for a 30ML bottle. These are certainly premium priced eLiquids and to find out if this is money wasted, or money well spent, you’ll have to read our impressions of the flavors below. Oh, and there are various 3-pack sampler packages you can get. A 3-pack 5ML of BasicPotion and OrganaTine is $11.95 and a 5-pack is $17.95. Not a bad way to go to try out the flavors without investing a sizable amount for the 15ML or 30ML bottle sizes, and a nice way to try several flavors.
Nicotine strengths start at 6mg, then up to 12mg, 18 and 24mg. They also offer a zero nicotine option.
The Four Flavors
Potion Vape submitted these four flavors in both lines:
- Dolce Bellini
- Up and Running
- Elderberry Ice (non-menthol)
The Team – All-Stars
Once again the all-star team made up of Julia Hartley-Barnes, Tom McBride, Keira Hartley-Barnes, Jason Little, and Angel Marie are the 5-member eLiquid connoisseurs who assembled in Stuart Florida (our new digs) to conduct the review. Each member spent 96 Hours with both lines of the flavors mentioned above.
We have now begun to adopt certain hardware for all team reviews. Simply put, each member of the team used their own personal mod, PV’s and APV’s, as well as a collection of devices that are kept at Spinfuel HQ. The list will remain the same for the next several reviews. The devices were:
Innokin iTaste 134 (black) – Tom
Innokin iTaste MVP v2 – Tom
ProVape ProVari – Julia
ProVape ProVari – Keira
Atmomixani VapeRev Nemesis – Julia
Triple 7 Magnum VV – Keira
ZMAX – (blue) – Julia
ZMAX (red brass) – Keira
Lambo 4 – Jason
Vision Spinner (purple) – Jason
VAMO v3 – Jason
SMOKTech Magneto – Jason
JoyeTech eVic – Angel Marie
Innokin iTaste SVD – Angel Marie
SMOKTech SID – Angle Marie
Halo Tritons – ALL
Plus: Innokin iClear 30’s, 16’s and 10’s; SMOKTech Pyrex DC Tanks, Glass Vision V-Fates, Kanger ProTank 2’s, Kanger ProTank Mini v2, Vision Victory BCC 5ML eGo-thread, Kanger 510 cartomizers (horizontal single coil), and Halo Triton Clearomizers (2.5ohm).
Both the OrganaTine and BasicPotion blends were thicker than average eLiquids. Although the 100% VG blends (OrganaTine) was certainly thicker than the BasicPotion 50/50 line, both were thicker than any of the past dozen e-Liquid reviews.
The BasicPotion blend caused no problems with any of the tanks, clearomizers, or cartomizers while the OrganaTine blend was too thick to use in cartomizers. Some long-wick clearomizers also took a while to fill when compared to the BasicPotion blends. Having said that, any 100% VG Vapers would obviously be used to thicker juices and we saw no evidence of any damage to the atomizers, coils, etc. that we chose to use. Filling and refilling went slower than usual with the OrganaTine line, but that was about the extent of it.
