SCAM ALERT: Vapex – The $99 Monthly Rip-off

Scam Alert Spinfuel Alerts the public to Vapex eCigarttesDid you know that ONE 10ML Bottle of eLiquid is equivalent to 55 packs of traditional cigarettes? No? According to Vapex, their eJuice is!

Scam Alert Spinfuel Alerts the public to Vapex eCigarttesHow would you like to pay $99.95 a month, plus shipping, for 40ML of Chinese-made eLiquid? Well, now you can! And it’s simple. Here’s all you need to do.

Sign up for the TryVapex Risk Free (yea, sure) 12-day “evaluation” period, with the moment of your order counting as the official evaluation count down clock. If you’re lucky, and you receive the eGo starter kit with enough time left to cancel, you’ll jump through several hoops to do so. You can even keep this eGo starter kit for $49.95, plus taxes and shipping, as long as you’re able to get through to the company and put in writing your reasons you wish to cancel.

The Scam

How many people will fall for this scam? Too many. We see it much too often, and we will keep on seeing it until the government steps in and demands these companies reveal the real terms of these scams.

By singing up for this ridiculous program you will pay more than $100 a month for 40ML of cheap eLiquid and a 5-pack of cheap knock-off clearomizers.

Please pass this Scam Alert around to anyone you know who might be tempted to sign up, who might not look at the Terms and Conditions, which they do a great job of hiding the link. In order to stop these awful scams we need to educate smokers and Vapers about the real cost of these products, and how they can obtain quality products for a FRACTION of the price these people want to rip you off for.

In this single web page, tryvapex.com they list 2 different addresses.

I sent product back with their return auth # and waited for them to reimburse me. I called in April and they said they were having problems and I should get a credit soon. When I called back no one ever answered phone. Called today and woman told Vapex is no longer at that call center–call your bank.

OKAY THEN EDUCATE ME!!! I don’t see one mention or link to these quality products that I should buy instead of being scammed by these idiots…

Would have been nice, just sayin.

I’m afraid you won’t be able to. If they are still practicing the same methods they have already charged your card and are getting ready to charge it again for your next month supply of cartomizers, which are about $10 a piece rather than the normal $1.50. You need to go to your bank and explain to them the situation, and have your card changed to a new number. Otherwise you’re in for a rough time. Refute the charges with your bank, get a new card, and wash your hands of ALL “risk free trials”, “Auto-ship programs” and “Only $4.95 Starter Kits”, they are always scams. Let us know how you make out, your actions can help others! – Julia

This Scam Alert was written months ago, so I meant that if they are still doing the same thing they did when we first wrote about this, they have charged your credit card already, despite not having even shipped your product yet. Banks are working with their customers on this type of scam. Vapex is also being sued in Connecticut over this scam so your bank might want to know that as well. Good luck! – Julia

Janet don’t feel bad, I too was the victim of this fraudulent website. When I first called to dispute the charges to my card, I had to ask for a representative that spoke good English because I could not understand the woman at all. I was then transferred to a woman who kept informing me that if I didn’t read the fine print, that was my fault, and my money would not be refunded. So, I have taken the liberty of writing a letter, and visiting with the family attorney.

I have sent this letter to any and all addresses for not only sinless vapor, but VAPEX and probably others who may or may not be involved.

      To who it may concern:
This letter is to inform you of not only my dissatisfaction for your product, but my intention to pursue legal processes against you, and all email associates, as well as the 2 separate locations your product was shipped from. First let’s just discuss these “terms and conditions” located NOT on the webpage that I originally purchased the shipping and handling for these “kits” for myself and my mother. I am only grateful that I made the purchase on my account, as she may have not noticed the $99.95 automatic withdrawal to her checking account. I made the purchases for the shipping and handling on these “kits” on 22 Jan 2014. IT TOOK A WEEK to even receive the product. Please explain how a person would have 12 days to try this product for free, if it isn’t received until one week later. THAT IS FRAUD. So let’s get into this fine print, it states that a full refund will be applied less a “restocking fee” of $17.50 from the $99.95 taken from my account. BUT this refund will only take place if the package is UNOPENED. So AGAIN tell me how a person is to try this product for 12 days and if unsatisfied a full refund will be applied????? How can a person try a product, but the product remains UNOPENED? FRAUD. Then by trying this FRAUDULENT product, the patron gets tapped into some recurring charge of $99.95 monthly? My $99.95 deduction on 2 accounts came out on 4 Feb 2014, EXACTLY 12 days from the original date of purchase, not 12 days with the product in my possession. So my real question is What kind of company promotes themselves as trying to provide a product that is better for the environment, and less hazardous to a person’s health, with NO GOOD intentions to the consumer? FRAUD and misrepresentation. It was evident to myself and my attorney that this company is not on the up and up based on the fact that when I reflected back to the numerous emails I have received from VAPEX NONE of the redirected pages were longer visible. It is a very good thing that I am so computer savvy and save pictures and posting for any and all purchases I have made online, just in case a FRADULENT incidence such as this arises. So what happens to the elderly community attempting to quit smoking, or the mass population of under informed people who JUST LIKE ME did not get the extra page of fine print? YOU knowingly and intentionally TAKE THEIR MONEY monthly and leave them at a loss. OH but I am sure you and your representatives do not care nor consider that fact as you are still making money by any means necessary. That is DISGUSTING, and what is wrong with companies nationwide. How can you in good conscience sleep at night knowing you lack ETHICS and have allowed your greed to consume you. I have every intention of pursuing a case against your company to protect Americans that have found themselves in the same situation as myself. I will also relay ALL of my experiences with this company to any and all who will listen, on facebook, twitter, my space and any other social media sites I can. I am disgusted by your company and everything you stand for. Expect a thorough investigation and a claim with the Better Business Bureau related to your behavior.

A copy of this letter has been forwarded to my attorney who will be representing me in this matter if the matter is not handled appropriately on your end. I have also taken the liberty of printing off all web pages sent to my email from all associates with email addresses ending in @edu.com. I will submit your terms and conditions that were NOT found on the page the order was placed, but on a separate site, and pictures that clearly state the kits are free, NOT free to try for 12 days then $99.95 will be charged on your card and will recur monthly.
I expect both accounts to be refunded in full within a timely manner,
      Sandi

I just ordered the “trial kit” and then realized the HUGE mistake I made. I called in to try to cancel my order but they said I couldn’t do anything until i received the product. I did use a prepaid credit card with $20 credit on it. My question is, once i receive the product should i just completely ignore them? since all they can really take from me is the 20 dollars on the card.

No don’t ignore them. Refuse the package, or better yet, return it using the remainder of the $20 prepaid card. Find their address on their website and just send it back with tracking so you know it got there. Unopened, so they won’t have a leg to stand on. – Julia

This interesting for me the company that got me was from Utah as well. With a little searching you could probably find a phone number.

I ordered the free trial from Vapex also. They took $4.95 out of my debit card.I did receive the trial. Then they took $99.95 out for some junk stuff they sent.I didn’t order it and I called them.I went to my bank and changed my card number so they would not take anymore out of my card.My checks bounced because of this and my bank said to send it back,so I sent it back. After a about 2 weeks (not hearing from them)I called them. They said they had received the products and I would be given a refund.Well it has been over 2 and a half months and I still haven’t gotten my refund. When I called them they said it would take 3 to 5 days for the refund.I am still waiting.I guess I will have to write them off and the costs of the bounced checks they caused.Lesson learned,I guess.

Joanne, a hard lesson to learn, yes, but you are not alone. It is still happening every single day. Somehow these terrible businesses can hide and Terms and Conditions just so much that most people do not see them, and then they are quickly ripped off. Someday some Attorneys General somewhere is going to indict them with all sorts of commercial frauds. One of these companies being taken down this way will shut them all down. You should insist with the bank that you did not authorize them to take that money, not consciously anyway. I will hope for the best! – Dave

Vapex Ejuice is a legit brand, and we do not do any monthly sign ups/scams, this is another company operating under our same name. Unfortunately there is not much we can do, but hope they go out of business. But Please don’t be scared to check out the legit e-juice company at http://www.ivapex.com thank you!

In the meantime, we suggest you have a proper logo appearing next to your google search results and that the logo is dramatically different than the other company. Perhaps that will be enough to separate the two of you in Vapers minds. Good luck, and we’re pulling for you! – Dave Foster

this Vapex Co also goes by the name Vape Lite vaperliteecig.com. I also saw no mention of any monthly crap and used my daughters card to pay the $4.95. it took 3 weeks to get the cheap junk they sent. before it even came they charged her card $99.50 I called them and they credited that amt, when I spoke to them I actually gave them a different card that was mine and told them that neither them nor I have further auth to use her card again. Well needless to say not 10 days after I got the junk they again charged her card for $99.50 and made all her bills bounce. I called them back and told them what happened and I was transfered to what they call the “higher ups” this idiot told me he would cancel my membership and credit her card when they get the stuff back. I again stressed that they had no auth to use her card and that edward from their customer service said that her card was wiped off the record and they never even tried to use my card. at this he said “i have no control over what the employees tell you! What is he a nut?! all managers are responsible for what their employees say. needless to say they said no refund till they get it back. and I dont have a good feeling at that! I have been vaping for a year and bought many different brands. Their so called $49.99 kit is worth maybe $25 and thats if it works, they sent me a battery that wont charge, and the worse tasting Vape juice I have ever tasted. the address I have are 2 1. 4525 south 2300 East #100 Holladay,Ut 84117 and 32114 North#455 University Ave Provo Ut. 84604. seems like a huge scam

    Hi,
I also ordered that in http://www.vaperxs.com and still have not got the package. The photos were same like vapex or tryvapex. It’s been over a couple of weeks. I have come to know about this scam just right now and called their customer service. that guy told me that he will refund my money once I send the product back to their Utah address and gave me an return authentication number. He also told that he has closed my account and nothing else will be charged again. I have some questions, which if you can answer will be very helpful for me.

    1. Should I close my debit card now? Are they going to charge me again?
    2. Is there any possibility that they will refund my money? Or Can my bank or any other government organization help me to get my money back?

Please tell a detail if possible. That will be highly appreciated.

And thank you so much for your article. Carry on your good works, people will really be helped by this.

If you haven’t received the product I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to send it back…and if they don’t get it back you won’t get a refund. Honestly, you probably won’t anyway since the 14 day trial begins the very moment you press the Order button.

Yes, you should close your bank card number and get a new one. Tell the bank that you never received the product and even if you do you nerve thought you’d have to pay anymore than the $4.95. Let us know what happens. – Tom

I am now making an effort to contact Vapex to ask them what to do with this e-cig device. I will not just mail it back without voice-to-voice conformation. Because, we talked at first and Vapex responded in kind and quickly enough for me that I should confirm with Vapex what next I should do. I left messages, on 877-554-5447 now, 26 mins ago. Sorry guys, I have to say foul on your side. If people are stupid enough to believe that they will get something for nothing, then they deserve the consequences. I went to the site after receiving an email and right of the bat I figured there has to be a catch. So I went to the terms and conditions link (not hidden by the way, but at the bottom of the page) and it clearly tells you what you are getting involved in. Now if you don’t read that page upon visiting the site, you still have to check a box stating that you did in fact read the terms and conditions when placing the order. How stupid are these people to check the box, not read the T&C, and then cry later that they got ripped off? Stupid people! Wake up and take accountability for your actions! They didn’t trick you, your greed to get something for nothing blinded your view of reality. I have no affiliation with the company in any way shape or form…I’m just really over stupid people who cry victim when they are in fact just plain STUPID!

That would be all fine and dandy if you actually had the chance to test the product. They do not ship the product until the 15th day, 3 days after the trial period ends and they have hit your cc or bank account. When you do get an RMA to return the product you will be charged up to half of the cost for restocking fees.
So yes each person is at fault to some degree but the people running the scam are making it impossible for you to even have a chance, and by law they are allowed to wait the 15 days before shipping, as long as it ships on the 15th day.

Have you returned the product and got the money back? He also has given me a number to write on the box and said to return the product. Do they really do so? He said that the money will be given back withing 60 days. Is it possible that he will charge me again after 30 days, though he said he closed my account. should I go to my bank to block my Debit card?

If any member related to this post can answer my questions, that will also be helpful.

      Thanks

Isn’t that sad, that you have to cancel your bank card in order to get out from under a scam? I hope you tell as many people as possible to stay away from “free trials” and “No risk” offers. There is always the fine print, and the fine print is ugly. – Julia

I just made an order to this then found everything out, they haven’t charged my card cause it’s debit and I didn’t put money on it since I hear it’s a scam, but I already paid the 4.95. Ordered it on the 11th and it’s still not here. Should I file a complaint with the better business bureau now???

That depends. If you want to try it and think you might want to pay that highly inflated price then wait. But if you want something 100 times better, at a fraction of the cost, cancel your order and report them. Companies like this shouldn’t be allowed to sale them.

Probably not, but you should return it to sender when it does arrive. You won’t like it, you won’t use it, so if I were you I would send it back as soon as it arrives. – Dave

I had a similar experience as Rick. Ordered the RISK FREE TRIAL on Oct. 21. Order was shipped on Oct 24. Received on Oct 28. The subscription to MONTHLY SHIPMENTS and the 12 day TRIAL is hidden in the Terms and Conditions you sign by checking a box on the order. Also the 12 days starts on the day you order the trial. 12 days from the 21st would be Nov 2nd, Oct 24th would be Nov 5th, and Oct 28th would be Nov 9th. I tried to contact VAPEX on Oct 31 and on Nov 1st. The Phone number (800-554-5447) and the E-mail address are no good. So on Sat the 2nd of Nov. I went to my bank and cancelled my Debit Card to stop any more charges. I was checking my bank account after I got home and sure enough there was a $99.95 charge on my account. My bank was closed and I was there when they opened Monday the 4th of Nov. Talked to my banks fraud people and VAPEX had posted the charge at 03:02 AM and I didn’t cancel the card till 09:34 AM. but they did get a number for VAPEX (888-959-6702). We talked to VAPEX and they gave me a RMA # and said there would be a 25% restocking fee. VAPEX got the $99.95 but I haven’t received the Merchandise so I guess I’ll send back the TRIAL I received. To sum this all up: 12 day trial is really 2 to 4 days. Risk free Trial is a LIE. You don’t receive what they advertise (I got a blister pack with a USB Charger, + Vaporizing unit, and a Sm bottle of oil) no Case or wall charger. Also, Vapex will not get you to them, try VAPERXS. I’m convinced VAPEX is A SCAM and they are running a FRAUD>> They know you can’t Try their product in the time line, they don’t want you to contact them, they don’t send what they advertise, HOPE this saves other people the problems I have with this Business..

We’ve published several Scam Alerts for this type of ecigarette scam, but Vapex is by far the worst. The horror stories we are hearing about, like yours above, are all too common. I hope you informed your bank that these charges were never authorized by you. Regardless if the Terms and Conditions were available on the site, most people couldn’t see the link because of the size and color of the link, therefore, you did not have the opportunity to say no. We must find more ways to stop criminals that do this to people looking to quit smoking. I’m so sorry you went through this. – Julia

I wanted to share my own personal dealings with you on Vapex.
I put together a slide show youtube video to expose Vapex for exactly what they are.
    Scam artists.
The video can be found on youtube by searching for: the truth about vapex
    Or by clicking this url
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKWzIJqqdpA&feature=youtu.be

Please watch my video and contact the Better Business Bureau in Arizona or Utah if you have been ripped off like I have.

The video will provide the viewer with contact information to file a complaint.
It also shows exactly what you get for $99.95.
Or in my case $199.90, since I accidentally order two trials by mistake.

These guys need to be shut down as they practice deceptive business practices and change the rules in the middle of the game.

VAPEX SUCKS!! AVOID THEM AT ALL COST PEOPLE!!

We watched you video. What you experienced is exactly what thousand of people have gone through. Go to your bank and fight the charges, the company won’t fight you since there are too many complaints already. Print this scam alert and take it with you. You can get your money back. And spread the word. About your video, it runs really slow, you might want to speed it up some. We’ll tweet your link though, it should be seen. Thank you posting your comment – Tom

Vapex sounds just like LiftVapor, they did the same thing but at least they did not make the same claims as Vapex does. I know I fell for LiftVapor but I sure would not buy from something that came from China. All the food recalls and animal product recalls makes me check very carefully for “Made in China” especially anything that goes into mine or my pets body!!!!!!
Thanks for the alert, sure hope enough people see it or hear about it!!!! I know I am for sure going to share it on facebook!
